Saving the Monarch butterflies
Inspired by an alarming study that outlined the pressing possibility and potential disappearance of butterflies within her lifetime, Pallas embarked on a passionate journey of raising monarchs. The genesis of her conservation efforts began in 2012 when she established her Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary in Las Flores Canyon, Malibu. Since then, Pallas has expanded her impact by initiating sanctuary projects throughout California, focusing her efforts in the canyons of Malibu, the foothills of Carpinteria, and along the Orange County coastline.
For over a decade she has been cultivating milkweed gardens, propagating plants, and educating others on the their own conservation efforts. She extends the enchantment of working with these majestic beings to the community with Monarch Butterfly Release gatherings, where participants are able to connect with the butterflies and release them with intentions for cultivating more harmony and peace on our planet. She has shared this experience with local schools, inviting the children to participate in the releasing of the monarchs, and to learn about conservation efforts in the process. She has been sought out for educational events, and has collaborated with the Santa Barbara Botanical Garden, educating staff and and collaborating with their pollinator garden exhibit and educational programing.
Her dedication goes beyond the monarch sanctuaries, encompassing the broader mission of raising awareness for all species currently in threat of extinction. Pallas has traveled throughout North and South America exploring butterfly conservatories, pollinator gardens, and animal sanctuaries of all kinds, learning about conservation efforts from direct experience. Learning from seasoned beekeepers for over a decade, Pallas has been working with bees since 2010, stewarding several hives both in southern California and now in Oregon. She attends international pollinator conferences, advocating for sustainable solutions and habitat rehabilitation.
Pallas's commitment is an open invitation for others to join her in protecting biodiversity, contributing to a healthier and more sustainable environment for all.
