Music 4 the Kids
About M4tK
Music 4 the Kids (M4tK) was created by singer-songwriter Paula Ferraro in 2005 to help children discover themselves and relate to the world around them in a more empathetic way. M4tK provides innovative musical and creative instruction to children of all ages, cultural backgrounds, and societal demographics. Through a series of songwriting sessions, M4tK records and produces CDs of the original music for the kids who participate and lend their spirit to the genesis of the songs. This exercise gives kids a window into their own creative hearts and the ability to share their music with the world around them.
M4tK was born of Paula’s conviction that everyone has a responsibility to help young people overcome their struggles and realize their dreams. Over the past decade, Paula has brought the M4tK program to kids of all ages throughout Southern California, New York City, Atlanta, Oregon, Japan, and Costa Rica. The program has also been implemented with school districts, church groups, hospitals, and local charity organizations throughout the US.
Paula is passionate about teaching children to develop a musical process to allow for their emotional landscape to be explored, reflected, express, and shared with others. Each one of us has truth in our hearts, and M4tK is focused on bringing that truth to the surface, cultivating a safe space to be heard and encouraged, and transmuting emotions into beautiful songs.
Weaving in the educational benefits of mentors allows for a fresh perspective and further develops a collaborative effort into the creative process. This harmonic relationship allows for the simultaneous teaching that arises from the youth and adults working together through exploration and innovation in the musical realm of soulful expression.
This process of reflection and sharing is profound within social groups. Witnessing emotional bravery through creative exploration inspires others to rise into their own uniqueness, and allows for the process of collaboration and innovation to flourish naturally. It allows for the dissolution of societal comparisons, competition, and isolation. To have a process to creatively look at yourself, hear yourself, and see and understand one another on a deeper level in sharing your expressions with the world around you is very empowering and uplifting. When children have the opportunity to express heartfelt emotions, the synchronization of their emotional sensibilities promotes empathic responses, bonding and uniting their efforts in all areas of life.
